  What was funny about that stunt was what that Truth Seeker Atheist guy who lent Jabba the Hutt the canoe said in a YT comment after the Thailand scandal broke. Lloyd didn’t want to wear a life jacket because it made him look goofy but TSA insisted, citing NY law. To be fair, Lloyd looks goofy with or without the life jacket. The leather jacket on the canoe was a horrible stylistic choice too. It made him look even fatter than he already was and his belly notably bulged out the front. And boy did he struggle to fit into that canoe and work the paddle. Probably took it out on a hooker later that night while the family was asleep.

  That scene was supposed to be in the TTATT documentary, but after Ortiz dropped him it is no more. In fact, I think the documentary itself is done for. Last update was in Feb 2022 when they announced they were booting him from the film! So if you donated any money to that project, you pretty much paid for Lloyd’s flight tickets, hotel rooms, lobster dinners and hookers.

  He’s not doing that. Read his book. It’s full of vitriol and tirades against his father, whom he viewed as the strict JW parent who pushed it on his mother who actually was open to questioning some things.

  I think he took whatever remained of that earthquake fund that was going to be enough to purchase that home in Istria with his family and instead bought that attic flat in Zagreb. So I suspect that Jabba the Hutt will have enough to make ends meet by continuing his JW videos. He discovered the hard way that it is difficult for YT influencers to stay relevant and he’s really not a thing anymore. He’ll earn enough to eke out his solitary life in Zagreb I reckon. But that’s not what he wanted when he told Andrew Gold he wanted to live on an island in retirement.

  Instead he’ll wait until the Croatian pension system kicks in for him and try for one last infusion of money by some sort of retirement fundraiser. He didn’t get Croatian citizenship because he wanted a new passport. He’s more like his father than he’d ever care to acknowledge. Just a sad and old lonely man.

  Things Rutherford got wrong that Fred Franz had to clear up

  i was interested by the suggestion in a recent discussion that rutherford was in some way preferable to fred franz, because i’ve not come across this view before.

  it made me rethink my assumptions and try to work out why i hold the opposite view and prefer fred franz to rutherford.

  i haven’t done any additional research, so i’m only drawing on what i can remember off the top of my head, but i thought i’d list a few things where i reckon fred franz’s approach was preferable to rutherford.

  Contrasting personalities and lifestyles too.

  Rutherford:

  Privately profane and boorish

  Extravagant lifestyle - Beth Sarim and apartments kept for him in NY and Bethel

  Alcoholic

  Abandoned his wife and lived with a mistress

  Racist

  Franz:

  Friendly and accessible

  Lived in a humble Bethel flat

  Possible teetotaler? If he drank it wasn’t an issue

  Lifelong Bachelor and celibate

  Spoke several languages and enjoyed going to foreign conventions

  By all accounts, Bethelites enjoyed having Freddie around while they longed for Rutherford to go back to San Diego. I think that’s a huge reason why Franz’s era seemed to be celebrated more than Rutherford’s. Even Knorr wasn’t as big of a prick as JFR was. Certainly Franz had a higher degree of morality than Rutherford.

  Don’t let that fool you. The Knorr/Franz team was every bit as destructive as Rutherford.

  What was Franz’s role regarding blood I wonder. Did he 1) come up with the idea to refuse blood transfusions 2) someone else came up with the idea and he fully supported it 3) he went along with the idea but was not enthusiastic, or 4) some other option?

  The blood issue was pushed by the quack Clayton Woodworth (first editor of what became Awake!). Woodworth also preached against aluminum cookware and tried to change the names of the months and days.

  Rutherford was more of a pragmatist than Franz was and didn’t adopt these silly ideas. Woodworth did outlive Rutherford by almost 10 years, so I suspect he had some influence on Franz.

  One thing that is often overlooked is that disfellowshipping was ramped up after Rutherford’s death. During his lifespan it tended to happen primarily in cases of open apostasy and/or going directly against Rutherford. Knorr/Franz were obsessed with sex and so the most often abused reason for DFing in modern times was thus born. Also they cracked down on alcoholism (Hayden Covington was DFed for this) and banned smoking.

  It’s a bit of a wash for me. Rutherford took the Russellite movement and created the foundation of the cult-like movement that exists today. Franz was way more of a puritan than Rutherford was and did his own set of damage, especially with the strict enforcement of DFing rules and the added set of rules that were not to be broken.

  Journalists have been known to do what Mark claims he did (or even worse). Difference is that the media outlet they are employed by gets sued and there’s some sort of settlement that is paid out to make the case go away. The publicity alone was worth that. The perfect crime. WT knows this will break him even in the event this gets tossed. This is why “freelance” Scientology bloggers and activists need to be very careful as to what they are getting involved in. No exJW gofundme as Redditors are suggesting is going to raise $150K or whatever Mark says his legal fees (so far) are. Not even his former mentor was capable of raising that kind of cash on the fly. This can go on for years.

  Yes, I know “WT bad, Mark good” but the laws still apply. I hope for his sake Mark gets out of this and his legal representation advises him correctly on what issues he’s safe on and where he’s potentially liable. And should it become clear the WT has a case, I hope he puts his animosity for the WT aside and looks for the best way out of this.

  Sometimes it’s better to be more practical than right. This lawsuit is the last thing someone nearing retirement age needs. Nothing is worth spending the rest of your life in poverty and dodging creditors for a ridiculous sum you can never pay.

  I’ve never bought into the “Lloyd is gay” talk. Like slim said, there are only hints such as his choice of Thailand with its notorious ladyboys, and I’d add his preference for anal sex and his lack of sexual chemistry with his wife. With that said, there is plenty of evidence he is straight - his incessant messages to female Instagram models and his infamous attempt to poach female attendees from a London speed dating event.

  If anything, I’d say the Thailand trip was an attempt to explore his sexuality further. (Oh and also to rub his wife’s face into it and teach her a thing or two about telling him what to do in his personal life). Jabba the Hutt may have teetered on the edge of heterosexuality and even into homoeroticism, but we have to remember that the guy has such a victim mentality. If he were in anyway gay or more likely bi, we wouldn’t hear the end of how everyone is gay-bashing him for going to Thailand.

  While I’m here, I might as well mention he’s at 319 patrons which leaves him at +9 from his last begging stunt. He had specifically asked for 576 pledges. The die is cast regardless of the activity or inactivity of this thread. No matter what stunts he pulls to get the numbers up, the results are only fleeting and they will always return to roughly 1/3rd of what he was or less. A day of reckoning should be upon him soon as he enters a time in his life where he needs to seriously plan for retirement. Is 319 + whatever he gets from YT going to be enough?

  I can confirm that Gonzo and his Thailand sexcapades have been talked about in JW circles. I’ve reconnected with my PIMI brother and the subject came up. JWs love to gossip. They are hesitant to bring up names but they know. This is not just something that is being discussed here on this thread.

  The part about how his mum wasn’t a JW whilst his dad was really explains why that family seems to have it both ways. He even admitted to ending his marriage due to a relationship with a woman he was in a movie with.

  Amazing though how JWs had/have so much talent among their ranks: The Wayans, the Jacksons, the Williams sisters, Prince, Larry Graham, George Benson, even Terrence Howard who also gave an interview about how Diddy was trying to groom him. He went into detail about how gays disgusted him.

  But they are all black. Hard to find a white JW who was famous. It’s like what comedian and writer Paul Mooney said:

  Sidekick guy, if you’re reading this, don’t work for free, have some self respect!

  Are you speaking of Arthur Weber, his guest on the last few livestreams? Arthur Weber has no self respect and has been that little cackling Muppet character chained to Jabba the Hutt for years. Lloyd never respected him and talked down about him to others and sometimes publicly. He kept him around because he thought Arthur’s immature geek image would somehow make him look better by comparison.

  Arthur is the guy behind the COC copyright fiasco (he printed the books and had a Romanian translation ready to go) who admitted by email that the scam was an “arrangement” with him and Lloyd.

  He’s absolutely of no benefit to Jabba the Hutt and his continued presence only proves the point that no self respecting individual wants to be seen with him. The minute anyone worth having as a collaborator comes upon the scene, Arthur will discarded like yesterday’s bread.
